SPJST Oral History Workshop

SPJST and Texas Dance Hall Preservation present an oral history workshop with Texas historian Dan K. Utley. Learn how to capture your members' recollections of people and events that made your lodge what it is today, and what to do with that information once you've collected it.
This workshop is part of TDHP's effort to assist community halls who want to document their history, nominate the hall for listing on the National Register of Historic Places, and become eligible for the Texas State Historic Tax Credit Program. The tax credit program can return up to 25% of qualifying expenses to property owners (including nonprofit fraternal lodges) that spend at least $5,000 to rehabilitate historic buildings.
Workshop registration includes lunch and is FREE but limited to 16 people, so please, only TWO registrations per lodge. You must register in order to attend.
